On and On
Unmanned aircraft have been a great boon for the word drone, which previously mostly referred to bees, beetles, or the way your great uncle talks about the benefits of investing in an IRA. Get in on the fun kind of droning in Woodward during the Thunderbird Drone Festival. See the fruits of filmmakers' labors during the international drone film festival, check out tech you can use yourself, and watch for the surprisingly intense drone races. August 12-13. Tickets, $10-$50. thunderbirddronefestival.com
Up, Up, and Away

More than a dozen hot-air balloons will launch from the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Powwow Grounds during this two-day festival. Take a ride for a view from the sky or enjoy plenty of fun on terra firma with a kids' zone stocked with inflatables, tasty food trucks, and vendors galore. August 12-13.
