We love our drive-ins in Oklahoma, and there is no drive-in restaurant that has seen more success than Sonic. As most Oklahomans well know, the Sonic chain started out in Oklahoma and was headquartered in Oklahoma City for many years. You're still very likely to find a Sonic in Oklahoma towns of a certain size. The restaurant was the brainchild of Oklahoman Troy Smith, whose original drive-in burger and hot dog concept was called Top Hat, founded in 1953. It wasn't until 1959 when Troy and business partner Charlie Pappe changed the name to Sonic due to the previous name being copyrighted.
For this Tuesday Trivia we're asking: What city is home to the first of Smith's restaurants to be known as a Sonic Drive-In?
